Single-Payer Health Care on Colorado Ballot in 2016
Dead or Alive? ColoradoCareYES is on the ballot next fall, allowing Coloradans to pick
their own providers while the system picks up the bills. Ten other states (CA, HI, IL, MA,
MN, MT, NY, OR, PA and VT) have proposed a single-payer plan over the years, but none
has come into fruition. In the end, ColoradoCareYES - or will ColoradoCareNO?
What's Ahead for PPACA in 2016?
While it may not appear so, 2016 is a pivotal year for PPACA. True, the numbers
are all over the place: some premiums are up, some are down and some
are neutral. The PACE Act is significant, but so is the upcoming Cadillac tax.
Employer mandates, increases in penalties and reporting requirements are just a
few of the many burdens to be placed on employers.
Threat or Opportunity: Increasing Number of Provider Owned Health Plans
Wisconsin, known for its rolling hills and dairy farms, is one of a handful of states
with an increasing number of provider owned health plans. While only about
13% of health systems offer a health plan nationally, states like Wisconsin (32)
and Utah (36%) currently have a large portion of their population insured under
provider owned health plans. Read the full article to discover how this trend
may impact your business.
5 Signs the Cadillac Tax May be Repealed
The Cadillac tax doesn't even go into effect until 2018 (if, in fact, it goes into
effect at all). A Morning Consult survey found that 76% of Americans want the
tax repealed or delayed; and employers, business groups, and labor unions
are fighting for the PPACA provision to be killed. With public opinion fervently
against the tax, employers fearful of impending burdens and expenses,
bipartisan support of repeal during the 2016 campaign, and threats to health
savings and flexible savings accounts, one thing is clear: 2018 is on the minds
(and wallets) of many.
